Badgers set to compete at Big Ten Tournament


MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women’s tennis team is set to begin postseason play this week when it competes in the 2022 Big Ten Women’s Tennis Tournament hosted this season in Iowa City, Iowa.

As the No. 4 seed, the Badgers (16-8, 8-3 Big Ten) earned a double-bye and will play Friday, April 29 at 6 p.m. CT facing the winner between No. 12 Iowa and No. 5 Illinois. Live stats and live streaming of UW’s match on Friday will be available here.

 

Senior Ava Markham holds the highest singles ranking for Wisconsin, checking in at No. 96 in the country with her singles record of 17-6 this season. Markham’s biggest victory of the year came against No. 11 singles player Kari Miller of Michigan.

Wisconsin’s doubles pair of Alina Mukhortova and Xinyu Cai also earned a place in the most recent ITA national rankings, spotted at No. 74 with a record of 15-7 after winning two straight to close out regular season play.

The championship match of the 2022 Big Ten Women’s Tennis Tournament is set for Sunday at noon CT.
