Aulia and Tomase Cap Undefeated Day at ITA All-American Championships


CARY, N.C. – Tennessee women’s tennis standouts Catherine Aulia and Elza Tomase both nabbed a singles and doubles victory Monday at the 2024 ITA Women’s All-American Championships at Cary Tennis Park.

In the opening round of the singles qualifying draw, Tomase locked up a 6-7 (4), 6-2, 6-3 win against Florida State’s No. 98 Kristyna Lavickova. The senior battled back after dropping the opening set in a tiebreaker, responding to secure the victory in three sets. Tomase advanced to the Round of 32 and is set to face Gracie Epps from Oklahoma State.

Aulia also claimed a singles victory in the first round of the qualifying singles draw. The Rosebery, Australia, native showed no signs of rust from the off-season, knocking off No. 97 Elise Wagle from UCLA by a 6-3, 6-4 ledger. Aulia will face Oklahoma’s Emma Staker in the Round of 32.

In doubles, the duo teamed up to take down a pair from Texas A&M, the 2024 National Champion. No. 23 Aulia and Tomase recorded a 6-2, 6-4 victory against No. 55 Nicole Khirin and Jeanette Mireles. The Lady Vol tandem is set to take on North Carolina’s Theadora Rabman and Alana Boyce in the Round of 16.

Competition will continue throughout the day tomorrow, with live stats and live streaming available for viewers.
