URBANA, Ill. – Mississippi State’s Emmanouela Antonaki closed out her senior campaign in the first round of the NCAA Women’s Tennis Singles Championship on Monday.
The 52nd-ranked Antonaki dropped a 6-3, 6-4 decision against No. 55 Fiona Crawley of North Carolina at Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex on the campus of University of Illinois.
Antonaki composed a remarkable 22 wins this season, bringing her career singles record 79-49. The Athens, Greece native has become one of MSU’s most decorated players garnering three All-SEC accolades (2019, 2021, 2022) and earned a bid to the NCAA Singles Championships every season that the tournament has been held throughout her career.
Antonaki earned five ranked singles wins this year, which were the most of any Bulldog. The senior led the team with six SEC victories and earned 10 wins at the No. 1 spot.
This week, Antoaki became the second Bulldog ever to earn a bid to the NCAA Singles Championships three times, joining Jasime Lee (2015-17).
Antonaki ranks third all-time in the MSU record book with 79 career singles wins.
Monday’s match officially brought MSU’s 2021-22 season to a close.
