Another Stellar Season For Men's Tennis In 2023


Individual Player Highlights

• Graduate student Brian Cernoch earned third-team All-ACC honors in singles, becoming a four-time All-ACC pick (twice in singles, twice in doubles).

• Graduate student Ryan Seggerman grabbed second-team All-ACC honors in singles and first-team recognition in doubles in his first year as a Tar Heel after transferring from Princeton.

• Sophomore Casey Kania, Seggerman’s doubles partner, joined him in earning first-team All-ACC accolades in doubles and manning the No. 1 doubles slot throughout the dual match season.

• London native Ryan Jansen joined the Tar Heels in January and posted one of the best seasons by any freshman in the nation. He manned the No. 3 singles spot in the starting lineup throughout the spring and showed the potential of a future star.

• Graduate student Karl Poling, Seggerman’s former Princeton teammate, dominated at the No. 4 singles spot all season and teamed with Jansen to start in doubles throughout the dual campaign.

• Senior Mark Dillon, a Morehead-Cain Scholar, was named the Athletic Director’s Scholar-Athlete for men’s tennis in recognition of his stellar career in the classroom and on the court.
