Raleigh, N.C. – South Carolina women’s tennis completed its first day of action at the NC State Ranked +1 on Thursday. The Gamecocks sent two doubles pairs with both pairs splitting results on the day.
In the first session of the day, No. 10 Ayana Akli and Sarah Hamner fell to North Carolina’s Reese Brantmeier and Carson Tanguilig 7-5 while Elise Mills and Shahar Biran fell to Isabella Pfenning and Antonia Balzert of Miami 6-4.
Both pairs of Gamecocks got back in the win column during the second session of the evening. Akli and Hamner registered their first win of the season together, taking down No. 17 Ariana Arseneault and Carolyn Ansari of Auburn 6-4. Meanwhile Mills and Biran also picked up a win, theirs coming over Georgia Tech’s Alejandra Cruz and Mahak Jain, also in a 6-4 result.
Action at the Ranked +1 will continue of Friday with two rounds of singles play at the Cary Tennis Park beginning at 9:00 a.m.
