Saturday was another successful day on the courts for Mississippi State men’s tennis.
The Bulldogs were competing in two tournaments on opposite ends of the country but enjoyed positive results in both.
No. 68 Petar Jovanovic continued his strong showing at the ITA National Fall Championships in San Diego, California after outlasting Kenta Miyoshi of Illinois 7-6(6), 4-6, 7-6(4) in the singles consolation semifinals.
Jovanovic meets Leo Raquin of Middle Tennessee in the final of the consolation bracket at noon CT on Sunday. The MSU sophomore is 3-1 in singles during the tournament with a pair of top 20 victories.
Marshall Landry and Nemanja Malesevic also started off Saturday with a doubles win at the GT Fall Invite in Atlanta. The Bulldog duo topped Georgia Tech’s Robert Bauer and Elias Shokry 8-4 on their home court.
Landry also earned a victory in singles as well with the State freshman pushing past Parker Jacques of Georgia 6-4, 6-1. The Bulldogs’ lone loss of the day came as Malesevic – ranked 46th in singles – fell 6-2, 7-6(4) to Yale’s Eric Li.
Landry and Malesevic will conclude Day 3 of the GT Fall Invite on Sunday playing both singles and doubles starting at 8 a.m. CT.
