Vols Complete Day One of Hagedorn Hidden Dual

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Tennessee men’s tennis competed against members of Arizona and San Diego on the opening day of the Hagedorn Hidden Dual, hosted by the University of San Diego at Skip and Cindy Hogan Tennis Center.
 
On the doubles courts, Filip Pieczonka and Shunsuke Mitsui defeated Gustaf Strom and Sasha Rozin, 6-3. Johannus Monday and Filip Apltauer dropped a close match to Jay Friend and Nick Lagaev, 4-6, while Chris Li and James Newton fell to Inaki Cabrera-Bello and Eric Padgham, 1-6.
 
The Vols collected three wins on the singles courts. Monday routed Jay Friend in 3-6, 6-1, 6-3, fashion. Mitsui took down Nick Lagaev in straight sets, serving out the 6-2, 6-3 win. Li posted a three-set triumph over Inaki Cabrera-Bello, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1.
 
Pieczonka dropped a hard-fought match to Gustaf Strom, 6-4, 5-7, 2-6, while Newton lost to Sasha Rozin, 1-6, 5-7. Apltauer came up short against Neo Niedner 4-6, 4-6
