CARY, N.C. – Three members of the UCLA women’s tennis team are set to officially ring in the 2023-24 season at Cary Tennis Park, site of the ITA All-American Championships.
Freshman Ahmani Guichard, sophomore Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer and junior Elise Wagle are part of the pre-qualifying singles draw of 96, which takes place over the upcoming weekend. The qualifying rounds of 64 and 48 will be held Monday, Oct. 2 and Tuesday, Oct. 3, setting up main-draw action from Wednesday, Oct. 8 through Sunday, Oct. 8.
Guichard, a Seminole, Fla. native, is set for her first matches as a Bruin. The Blue Chip recruit, who was rated as high as fourth in her class by TennisRecruiting.net and has achieved a career-high ITF junior ranking of No. 59, reached the singles second round at the 2022 US Open Junior Championships. Lutkemeyer piled up 21 singles wins across the fall and spring schedules as a freshman in 2022-23, collecting the singles title at the Women of Troy Invitational in October 2022. Wagle, an ITA All-American selection in 2023 for her doubles prowess, also went 15-5 in singles contests (11-4 in dual matches) during her sophomore campaign.
