Raleigh, N.C. – South Carolina women’s tennis completed its third day of action at the NC State Ranked +1 on Saturday, adding five more singles wins to the team’s season total.
In the third round of singles play No. 25 Sarah Hamner defeated No. 70 Alana Wolfberg of Tennessee 6-3, 5-7, 12-10. Hamner then went on to take down No. 32 Florencia Urrutia of Oklahoma 4-6, 7-5, 10-7. She will play in the final match of the A-1 back draw on Sunday beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Also in the A-1 draw is No. 7 Ayana Akli who fell to No. 31 Anika Yarlagadda in her third round of action. The graduate bounced back in a big way in the fourth round though, defeating No. 20 Ariana Arseneault of Auburn 6-1, 6-2.
In the A-2 draw, fellow graduate Elise Mills defeated Tennessee’s Layla Britez Risso 6-4, 3-6, 10-3 and in the Round Robin draw Misa Malkin recorded a comeback win over UCF’s Anique Kattenberg 4-6, 6-1, 10-6.
Graduate Shahar Biran dropped her quarterfinal match of the A-2 draw as well as her fourth round match.
The Ranked +1 will conclude on Sunday with one round of doubles followed by one round of singles beginning at 9:00 a.m.
