USC Women’s Tennis Primed For 2023 Pac-12 Championships

THIS WEEK
The USC women’s tennis team travels to Ojai this week to compete in the 2023 Pac-12 Championships. The tournament runs from April 26 through April 29, and the No. 6 seeded Women of Troy will play their first match at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, against No. 11 seed Washington State at the Weil Tennis Academy. 
 
If the Trojans win, they’ll advance to play No. 3 seed Arizona State on Thursday, April 27 at 6 p.m. at either Weil or the Ojai Valley Athletic Club. The semifinal match is scheduled for Friday at 3 p.m., while the final will be played Saturday at 3 p.m. at Libbey Park. 

EVENT INFO

The 11 teams will compete in a tournament team format to determine the Pac-12 Champion and the automatic qualifier for the NCAA Championships. Matches will be played at the Weil Tennis Academy and OVAC before relocating to Libbey Park for the championship round on Saturday. There will be court-dedicated live streams for all first-round, quarterfinal and semifinal matches at both Libbey (men) and Weil (women). All of the court-specific links are on the event page on Pac-12.com. Saturday’s championship matches will be televised on the linear Network like usual.

ITA RANKINGS UPDATE

In the ITA’s latest rankings, USC was No. 26 in the team category and boasts two ranked singles players. 

 

Freshman Maddy Sieg led the way at No. 8, followed by senior Eryn Cayetano at No. 44. The Women of Troy also boast two ranked duos in No. 17 Cayetano/Sieg and No. 39 Snow Han/Naomi Cheong

 

REGULAR SEASON RECAP

USC wrapped up the regular season 16-8 overall and 6-4 in conference play. Freshman Maddy Sieg has led the Trojans in singles play this season, appearing at center court in all matches. Sieg has only lost once this spring, boasting a 15-1 dual match singles record. In doubles, Nathalie Rodilosso leads the squad with 20 wins, partnering with Emma Charney and Grace Piper most frequently. 

 

Pac-12 HISTORY

The Women of Troy are in pursuit of the programs first Pac-12 Tournament Championship, having previously won four Pac-12 regular-season titles.
