Boilers Drop First Big Ten Road Match

MADISON, Wisc. – The Purdue men’s tennis team scored its first point on the road and in-conference in a 1-6 loss to Wisconsin on Friday.

Daniel Labrador scored the lone point of the match for the Boilermakers. His victory in straight sets was dominant from start to finish. His win is the second of his career at No. 2 and his first victory in singles since February 15 against Ball State.

Purdue dropped the doubles point to start the match with No. 1 and 2 losing 6-4. Mujtaba Ali-Khan/Julen Morgan led their opponent 5-4 at No. 3 when the point was clinched.

Each of the six singles matches were won in straight sets with the Badgers taking five. Outside of Labrador’s victory, no Boilermaker was able to win more than four games in a set (Michal Wozniak in his first set).

The Boilers now drop to 0-5 against ranked opponents this season, but were able to end their negative streak of consecutive shutouts.
