EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon picked up its third straight win and remained unblemished at home, as the Ducks took down Saint Mary’s 5-2 Sunday afternoon at the Student Tennis Center.
The Ducks (5-2) pushed their home record to a perfect 5-0 after claiming the doubles point and four singles matches against the Gaels (1-2).
The doubles point was decided the No. 2 position after the sides split at Nos. 1 and 3. Ares Teixido Garcia and Jo-Yee Chan defeated Stefanie Silva and Tian Yu Dong. 6-4, at the second position to spot the Ducks a 1-0 lead. Teixido Garcia and Chan improved their doubles record to 5-0 this spring.
Playing at No. 1 for the sixth time this season, Sophie Luescher and Uxia Martinez Moral bested SMC’s Jordan Harris and Lene Mari Hovda, 6-3. Luescher and Martinez Moral pushed their spring mark to 4-2.
Oregon picked up three straight-set wins in getting the required four points and earn its third straight win. Teixido Garcia got the first singles win, 6-1, 6-2, over Mari Hovda and Martinez Moral followed suit, 6-2, 6-2, over Yu Dong.
Chan clinched the Ducks’ fourth point of the day with her 6-1, 6-3 win over Madison Weekley at No. 6. Chan, Martinez Moral and Teixido Garcia all earned their fourth straight singles wins while Martinez Moral and Teixido Garcia each have a team-leading five singles wins this spring.
