SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Alabama women’s tennis program (3-1) concluded its time on the west coast with a 6-1 win over UC San Diego (2-2) at the Northview Tennis Courts.
After taking the doubles point with wins on courts one and two, Alabama captured back-to-back singles victories for a 3-0 lead in the match. UC San Diego recorded its lone point on court six, but Loudmilla Bencheikh clinched the decided point with a win on court one.
The Match
- Bencheikh and Ola Pitak won six-straight games against Grace Gamal and Ella Pachl on court two for the first doubles victory
- Petra Sedlackova and Anna Parkhomenko followed with a 6-3 victory on court one over Kelly Leung and Naomi Nguyen to secure UA the doubles point
- Klara Milicevic went 6-0, 6-1 against Sophie Pearson on court five for the Tide’s first singles win
- Sedlackova moved Alabama out to a 3-0 lead with a 6-0, 6-4 win on court two against Pachl
- The Tritons captured their lone win of the match on court six to make it a 3-1 Alabama lead
- However, the Tide would clinch the match with a 6-1, 7-5 victory from Bencheikh on court one just moments later
- Pitak and Anna Parkhomenko added wins on courts four and three, respectively
- Pitak defeated Gamal 6-4, 7-5, while Parkhomenko topped Nguyen 6-2, 6-2 for the final point of the match
