Men's Tennis Heads to ITA Kickoff Weekend

The Utah men’s tennis program is in full swing and returns to action this weekend after a successful opener against UC Davis and Weber State. The Utes will travel to Fort Worth this weekend for the ITA Kickoff as the 17th pick and No. 2 seed with TCU as the host. The Utah squad is set to face Texas Tech on Saturday morning.

IN THE BOOKS
Head Coach Roeland Brateanu leads the Utes 2-0 to start the 2023 season following a historic 2022 spring season. The Utes went 16-0 from January to March 2022, the best start in program history. Aside from guiding the team through a terrific spring season, Brateanu also continued collecting awards for the Utah program after winning both singles and doubles titles at the ITA Mountain Region tournament for the first time in at least 20 years. He was also named 2022 Wilson/ITA Head Coach of the Year in 2022.

THE KICKOFF

The Utes earned a spot at the prestigious ITA Kickoff weekend after being ranked No. 32 following the 2022 season. This will be the first time the Utes participate since 2020. The squad will be one of four teams at the location, including host TCU, Gonzaga, and first opponent Texas Tech. Matches will begin Saturday. Sunday matches will be decided after Saturday matches are finished.
