Iga Swiatek took major criticism for a minor infraction that went uncalled during her final at San Diego against Donna Vekic.

In the sixth game of the second set, the Pole raised her arms at the net, and could have easily been called for a hindrance against Vekic – but was not.

Later, the Twitterverse got involved and called out the Pole for her actions. Swiatek took to Twitter to make a neat apology.

‘‘This is the best prize/trophy ever!’’ Swiatek wrote on Twitter, making note of the surfboard she took home along with her trophy and winner’s check. “’Thank you San Diego for an amazing (cloudy) week and this unique vibe. I love it here.

“Congrats @DonnaVekic for your amazing run! And sorry for waving my hands at the net.”

Reportedly, it is not the first time Swiatek has made a similar hindrance, but she has yet to be called for it.

Our guess? Now that she’s aware of the public contempt for this sort of play, we won’t see it again.

The brilliant tennis that has taken the Pole to two major titles and 64-8 title on tour this year? We’ll surely see more of that.
