SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah women’s tennis program heads to the ITA Mountain Region Championships, held from Oct. 12 to 16 at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on the UNLV campus. There will be more than 120 individuals competing this week.
Utah will compete in singles and doubles during the ITA Regional. The regional doubles champion and the regional singles champion and finalists qualify for the ITA National Fall Championships from November 4-7 in San Diego, California. More than 8,000 student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, Junior, and Community Colleges compete across 85 ITA Regional Championships around the country are competing to advance to the ITA National Fall Championships.
Utah will have four student-athletes competing this week in the regional. Competing for Utah will be Madison Tattini, Marcela Lopez, Kaila Barksdale, and Anastasia Goncharova. Click here to view the complete ITA Mountain Region Championships tournament page.
Admission to all matches is free of charge.
This will be the fourth straight Mountain Regional that the ITA women’s event will be held in Las Vegas. Members from 19 western teams will face off as individuals from Wednesday through Sunday on 12 courts each day in singles and doubles.
Utah will be one of 19 teams competing in the tournament this week. They will be competing against Air Force, Boise State, BYU, Colorado, Colorado State, Denver, Idaho, Idaho State, Montana, Montana State, Nevada, New Mexico, Northern Arizona, UNLV, Utah State, Utah Tech, Weber State, and Wyoming.
Wednesday’s first round gets underway with Round of 64 doubles at 10:00 a.m. MT followed by a full Round of 64 singles – with two flights. There will be consolation draws in singles to ensure each entrant has at least two matches.
