Broska Tabbed To CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

STARKVILLE – The awards continue to roll in for Mississippi State’s Florian Broska.

Broska was named first team All-SEC for his stellar play on the court this season and was rewarded this week for his efforts in the classroom. The two-time MSU graduate garnered a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District Men’s At-Large Team for District 6.

Broska was the only men’s tennis player honored from District 6, which consists of Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Wyoming. It is the 19th time a men’s tennis player has been picked to the Academic All-District first team since 2002 and first since Nuno Borges in 2019.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District Team recognizes the nation’s top student‐athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. MSU golfer Ford Clegg was also selected from District 6.

Broska earned his master’s degree in information technology from State last week while maintaining a 3.83 grade point average. The Eitelborn, Germany native previously completed his undergraduate degree in business management last spring while holding a 3.84 GPA.

Broska also helped the men’s tennis team post a cumulative 3.75 team GPA during the fall semester, which was tops among Mississippi State Athletics.

On the court, Broska currently holds a career-best singles ranking at No. 17. He is currently tied for the team lead with seven win over ranked opponents and also 21 victories overall.

Broska’s 97 career singles wins are tied with Matthieu Ballay (1996-99) for the sixth-most in MSU history. His 167 overall victories are tied for the eighth-most in school history with Romain Ambert (2001-04).

Broska is also one-half of the 47th-ranked doubles tandem alongside partner Gregor Ramskogler.

Although State’s season came to a close in the NCAA Championship earlier this month, Broska will continue on. He will represent the Bulldogs at the NCAA Singles Championships in Urbana, Illinois next week.
