Both Gators will play on the USTA Pro Circuit this summer as members of the team.
Riffice and Shelton join eight other top American college tennis players across the country in this initiative.
Designed to aid elite American tennis players in their professional tour experiences, this training program allows the athletes to test the pro circuit while being in a team-oriented environment with the help of USTA Player & Coach Development.
While this is Shelton’s first time on the team, Riffice was named to the team for the second year in a row as he found himself on the 2021 USTA Collegiate Team after his memorable junior campaign.
Florida is also the only school among both the men and women to have two athletes make the team.
Players are selected based on many criteria, including their ATP and ITA rankings, their collegiate tournament results, Universal Tennis Rating, ITA awards and honors and more. The selected athletes are also provided a travel grant for USTA Pro Circuit events and coaching support throughout the summer.
The men’s coaches will be USC’s Assistant Coach, Rich Bonfiglio, and Louisville’s Assistant Coach, Mario Rincon, while Vanderbilt’s Assistant Coach, Hayley Carter, will accompany the women’s team.
