#7 Wolfpack Back in Florida for Third Consecutive Match


RALEIGH – Seventh-ranked NC State women’s tennis (11-2, 4-1 ACC) is traveling to visit No. 28 Central Florida (7-6) for the third consecutive matchup in the sunshine state in a week. Action will begin tomorrow, March 17 and is set for a 5 p.m. start time in Lake Nona, Fla.

NC State leads the series against the Knights 2-1 with the latest matchup being a home 4-0 victory in 2021.

Last Time Out: 

Last weekend, the Wolfpack stayed in Florida for a few days to take on Miami and Florida State for conference play. The Miami match resulted in a hard-fought 3-4 loss against the No.18 ranked team. Sunday’s action against Florida State resulted in a 6-1 win due to a singles sweep on all six courts. 

Rankings Update:

A heartbreaking loss at Miami moved the Wolfpack down two spots to No. 7 in the team rankings on March 14. 

The ITA released updated singles and doubles rankings on March 7th which continued to hold five Wolfpack members in singles and two pairs in doubles. Alana Smith moved up to No. 9 in singles, making it her highest singles rank in career history. Amelia Rajecki follows her at No. 18, Diana Shnaider at No. 35, Abigail Rencheli at No. 55, and Sophie Abrams at No. 123. In doubles, Miller and Rajecki remained in the top-10 at No. 9 and Smith and Shnaider moved up into the top-25 at No. 23.

Coming Up Next: 

Following tomorrow’s match at Miami, NC State is visiting South Bend, Ind. for another away ACC matchup. The first serve against the No. 24 Notre Dame Fighting Irish is set for 3:30 p.m. on Friday, March 24.
